How to Use a Prop Firm Discount Code

Prop firm discount codes are the most valuable codes in trading because evaluation fees are real money paid upfront, and discounts of 10% to 90% are common. Using one is easy once you know where the field is and what the code covers.

Where the coupon field is

Almost every prop firm applies a discount at checkout. You choose the account size and the evaluation model, click through to the payment page, and somewhere on that page is a field marked promo code, coupon, discount or voucher. On some firms it is hidden behind a link that says "Have a code?". Enter the code and press apply before you choose a payment method; the new total should appear immediately.

A few firms take the code on the account-configuration step instead, and subscription-based futures firms such as Topstep and Apex apply it to the first month's fee. If you do not see a field, check the firm's FAQ or ask support before paying, because most firms will not apply a code retroactively.

What the code usually covers

A prop firm discount nearly always applies to the evaluation fee, which is the fee you pay to attempt the challenge. It rarely applies to resets, add-ons such as higher profit splits or news trading, or to the monthly data fees some futures firms charge. Read the code's terms on FrugalFX before you assume it covers an add-on.

Some codes are limited to particular account sizes or models. A code advertised as "20% off eligible challenges" means exactly that: some challenges are not eligible.

Timing matters

Prop firms discount heavily around Black Friday, their own anniversaries, New Year and during slow trading months. If you are not in a hurry, waiting a week or two for a sale can be worth more than any standing code. The deals directory lists current codes with expiry dates so you can see whether a sale is running.

Mistakes that cost the discount

The common ones are simple and all avoidable.

  • Paying before applying the code. Most firms will not refund the difference.
  • Using a code from another region or an expired sale. Check the dates.
  • Buying a reset with a challenge code. Resets are usually excluded.
  • Paying with a method that does not support discounts, such as some crypto checkouts.
